Guidelines

Anyone can create and share a great digital story about a book in this project.  Basic guidelines are:

  1. PURPOSE: Your goal is share why you love a specific book, and convince others they should read it also.
  2. IMAGES: Use five different pictures to tell your story. Choose pictures that are related to the narration you will add for each one. Use pictures you take or pictures you have permission to reuse (that are shared with a Creative Commons license.)
  3. NARRATION: Add approximately 30 seconds of voice narration to each photo. Consider writing a script in advance and choosing your words carefully - 30 seconds is not much time!
  4. WEB ACCESSIBLE: Your great book story needs to be available online for others to access. After you are finished, add a link to our LISTEN AND SEE wiki page under the appropriate category by clicking EDIT PAGE. (Use the password "share" without quotation marks.) Don't see the category you want? Create it!
  5. ATTRIBUTION: Consider adding textual web links to your VoiceThread digital stories for each image which link back to the original source of the image. This will provide helpful attribution of image sources for viewers. (Examples of VoiceThread book stories which include this form of image attribution are available here and here.)

You can use any digital tools or websites you want to create your great book stories. Since it allows for moderated voice and text commenting, we recommend VoiceThread! More tips about tools and suggestions are available on our FAQ page.
